By Michael Benolkin

Date of Review November 2011 Manufacturer Lifelike Decals
Subject North American P-51 Mustang Part 1 Scale 1/32
Set Number 32014 Skill Level Basic

First Look

Lifelike Decals from Japan turns out some colorful and nicely printed subjects. In this set, we have four distinctive Mustangs in time for Tamiya's recent 1/32 P-51D Mustang kit. As usual, these decals are nicely printed and very colorful in their subject selections. This decal set provides markings for four aircraft:

P-51D P-51DP-51DP-51D

  • P-51D-15-NA, 44-15459308 FS/31 FG, HL-B, 'American Beauty', as flown by Capt John Voll
  • P-51D-10-NA, 44-14733, 370 FS/359 FG, CS-L, 'Daddy's Girl', as flown by Capt R. Wetmore
  • P-51D-10-NA, 44-14570, 35 FS/4 FG, WD-D, 'Thunder Bird', as flown by Capt Ted Lines
  • P-51K-10-NT, Deputy Commander 348 FG, 0, 'Mrs. Bonnie', as flown by LtCol Bill Dunham

As you can see in the decal images, this set comes complete with a full set of national markings, distinctive unit markings, and a wealth of maintenance stencils. If you're looking for a colorful alternative that isn't from the mainstream Superscale/Eagle Strike/Aeromaster line-up, here is a nice way to be different!

You can purchase these decals directly from Lifelike Decals. My sincere thanks to Lifelike Decals for this review sample!
