First Look
Vintage Eagle Publishing released a new reference covering captured Luftwaffe aircraft ( look here) and also published this set of decals covering four of the subjects from the book. The color profiles and associated decals chronicle the aircraft prior to the 'new management' applying their own markings, so you're provided with the colors and markings to replicate the aircraft while they were still in Luftwaffe service.
The four aircraft featured in this set are:
- He 162A-2, White 4, 1./JG 1, Leck
- Bf 109G-10, Yellow 7, 3./JG 27, Salzburg
- Fw 190A-8, Red 3, 2./JG 301
- Fw 190A-8, Yellow 7, 3./JG 2
What is especially nice about this decal release is the publisher's attention to detail. First, the decals are in two parts: the national markings and distinctive markings are waterslide decals printed by Cartograf while the maintenance stenciling is dry transfer done by HobbyDecal. Excellent work!
Next are the instructions - this isn't the usual the usual photo-copied sheet with arrows telling you to put the markings 'somewhere over there', this is a full-color booklet that provides pages for painting instructions, pages for maintenance stenciling, and pages for distinctive marking placement. This is really the level of quality I look for that are done by only a few companies like Afterburner Decals and this is nice to see here too.

My sincere thanks to Vintage Eagle Publishing for this review sample!
