First Look

With the growing number of full-production injection-molded plastic kits coming into the market in 1/350 and 1/700 scales, and now a push into 1/200 scale as well, there are excellent opportunities to provide aftermarket details to satisfy the advanced builders that are acquiring these kits. While there are a number of aftermarket companies around that address many of these naval subjects, Alliance Modelworks is really doing some interesting work with their photo-etched detailing. Let's take a look at this new set:

IJN WWII Aircraft Carrier Safety Net

This set provides the standard safety nets that are located around the sides and stern of the flight deck. These can be positioned in the deployed (horizontal) or stowed (vertical). Click on the parts image above and you can see the great level of detailing that Alliance Modelworks can achieve with their photo-etching process. These are the finely detailed netting that can't be effectively replicated in styrene.

For more information about this or any other detail set, stop by Alliance's website.

My sincere thanks to Alliance Modelworks for this review sample!
