First Look
MAW-Decals continues its love affair with the F/A-18 Hornet in this latest release. This set updates the original 48-R004 set for the Hasegawa kit with the nose profile used on the late production blocks of the Hornet, adds the IFF antenna system and other distinctive changes found on the newer aircraft.
What's new in this release is some nice improvements in casting as this set is now molded in a grey resin that provides a smoother surface than the original set. The forward bulkhead for the nosegear well is still cast in white to make it easier to paint up inside the wells after assembly. Click on the image above and you'll see all of the distinctive details for the late-block C/D Hornet captured here. A decal sheet is included to provide the additional/revised vents applied to the newer airframes.
What's more, this conversion remains at the same retail price of the original release - $17.99, so you can bring all of your Hornets up to date.
This set is definitely recommended!
