First Look

Resin 2 Detail has released their beautiful V-1650 Packard Merlin engine in 1/48 scale. This gem is finely cast in gray resin (click on the image below) and consists of 27 parts. As you can see from the CAD image above, this kit replicates the various pumps, filters, ignition channels, and fuel injection plumbing that makes up the Merlin.

V-1650 Packard Merlin Engine

If you're planning a super-detailed model of the P-51B/C/D/K Mustang, P-40 Warhawk, or one of the Marks of the Lancaster or Mosquito that were powered by the Packard Merlin, this set will give you a very nice looking powerplant to reveal with the cowling panels removed. This engine can be purchased in 1/48 scale directly from the manufacturer here: resin2detail.com.

My sincere thanks to Resin 2 Detail for this review sample!
