First Look

Here is a much-overlooked detail in any 1/48 scale US/Allied World War II vignette - a start cart. One of the commodities in short supply was the battery. While most aircraft had serviceable batteries, trying to start a cold engine on a really cold morning ran the risk of draining the battery. These start carts could provide sufficient amperage to start the engine and preserve what life remained in the battery.

Electrical Generator Cart

This detail set consists of the motor and generator unit pre-molded on a trolly base, with a separate set of parts providing the cart wheels, stand, and handle. The set also includes brass wire for fabricating the power cable.

If you want to add some fidelity to your next USAAF subject, simply park one of these near the external power jack of your aircraft just in case it needs that extra 'boost' to get started.

My sincere thanks to Signifer for this review sample.
