First Look
White Ensign Models continues to turn out some very interesting detail sets in their 1/350 scale range. This release provides an interesting array of catwalk configurations around the edge of the flight deck, including variations seen on some specific ships in the Essex class. You'll need to check your references to select the catwalk types for the specific ship that you're modeling.
This set includes:
- Flight Deck Edge Catwalks
- LSO Catwalk
- Whale Boat Platforms
- Catapult Gear Suspended Catwalks
- Aft Thwartships Full-Width Catwalk
- Forward LSO Platform
- Catapult Gear Rear Access Catwalks
- Long Inclined Ladders
- Upper and Lower 5" Gun Platforms
- Standard Inclined Ladders
- Two and Three Bar Handrails
This set provides a nice range of details to dress up the edge and bow catapult areas with those fine details that can only be done in photo-etch. The instructions walk you through the assembly and options for each particular detail and you'll love the results!
Just when you thought you couldn't find any greater detail in 1/350 scale, White Ensign Models has come alongside with their latest creations.
My sincere thanks to White Ensign Models for this review sample!
