Here is Hasegawa's 1967 Volkswagen panel van kit with a new decal sheet. The basic kit is molded in multicolor plastic: body shell molded in blue; five parts trees molded in white, one tree molded in black, one tree of chromed parts, two trees of clear parts, and one set of rubber (vinyl) tires. The kit, just like the full-scale vehicle, is very basic and you'll spend more time painting than building this model.

The front doors, sliding side door, and rear engine access door are all molded closed. The front interior has all of the basic details you'd find in this van with the exception of seat belts. The rear cargo area has basic details though the rear portion doesn't completely box off the engine compartment, so there are some opportunities to do a little improvements which may or may not be seen after assembly.

Since the engine compartment doesn't open, the engine is represented by the bottom plate showing the bottom of the crank case, cylinder heads and rear suspension arms. The kit may be simple, but it does offer lots of details molded into the parts to make it stand out with the appropriate painting and weathering.

What's different about this release is the decal sheet. You may have noticed the anime-like characters that go with the Hasegawa egg plane series. Well here they've given those pseudo-anime characters their own vacation vehicle. The artwork is very nicely done and will appeal to anime fans, or you can build the van without.

This is a beautiful kit straight out of the box and will look nice whether you opt for the anime themed version or a stock model.

My sincere thanks to Hasegawa USA for this review sample!
