Straight from the Auto World Website: Back for the first time in almost 50 years the retro-futuristic Daytona Transport Truck is here! The bubble-topped transport bed can hold 1:25 scale models and makes a great display case! It builds in two sections – swiveling forward cab and enclosed bed section.  This is the first time it has been in production since the 1960s!

Clearly the guys at AMT/Round 2 and Auto World keep digging for treasures in the tooling vault. This time they have really struck GOLD. This kit has only been issued a couple of times before and probably not since the 60's. This model builds into two sections: a forward swiveling cab that is connected to an enclosed trailer section. The canopy of the cab opens and piston arms on the swivel assembly move in an out when the cab is moved side to side. The cab is powered by an OHC 6 cylinder engine with a front wheel drive configuration.  The enclosed trailer section will hold most 1/25 scale models and doubles as a display case.

The kit box is oversized to provide room for all the parts packed in it. This includes all the parts for the basic transporter plus two sets of window parts. One set is clear, the other tinted light blue. The kit is molded in white instead of red as it was originally. The instruction sheet is a reproduction of the original simplified exploded drawing. The decal sheet contains stripes in various colors and configurations to provide building options. It also has the Auto World and MPC Logos.
