First Look

Those of you who like to model spacecraft will know the name New Ware of the Czech Republic for their extensive line of kits, conversions, decals, and details for a wide variety of spacecraft. I was surprised to see they've expanded their portfolio to not only include scale aircraft, but also paint masks. This set provides a sheet of dye-cut yellow tape masks to ready the Fly Kits' 1/32 Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc kit for paint.

You can see in the instructions above that a complete set of windscreen and canopy masks (plus spares are provided along with wheel masks to paint the hubs and additional spares. The masks are die-cut yellow tape types which are easy to apply, easy to remove, and are less likely to pull up paint compared with the vinyl mask equivalents.

I'm using more paint masks in my own projects as there are fewer issues with paint-on-paint markings versus applying decals over paint. If you've been tempted to try using paint masks in your own builds, check out the other subjects that New Ware produces.

My sincere thanks to Victory Models for this review sample!
