First Look
Those of you who like to model spacecraft will know the name New Ware of the Czech Republic for their extensive line of kits, conversions, decals, and details for a wide variety of spacecraft. I was surprised to see they've expanded their portfolio to not only include scale aircraft, but also paint masks. This set provides a sheet of dye-cut yellow tape masks to ready the AMK 1/48 MiG-31BM/BSM kit for paint.
You can see in the instructions above that a complete set of windscreen and canopy masks (plus spares are provided along with wheel masks to paint the hubs and additional spares. The set also includes masks to help replicate the sealant around the canopy/windscreen window panes and also cover antenna patches around the airframe. The masks are die-cut yellow tape types which are easy to apply, easy to remove, and are less likely to pull up paint compared with the vinyl mask equivalents. Interesting that this set also provides the main window pane masks in vinyl. These masks provide the boundaries for the clear sections, you'll need to use your favorite liquid masking system to finish the job.
This set will make painting of your MiG-31BM/BSM kit much easier and may also work with the more recent MiG-31B/BS kit as long as you're aware of the minor canopy differences.
My sincere thanks to Victory Models for this review sample!
