Review

Still available from Classic Warships is another in a series of warship pictorial books, this time it's the USS Buchanan DD-484 Destroyer.  This volume by Steve Wiper covers the history of the second USS Buchanan DD-484 Destroyer launch 22 November 1941.

This new book adds many new images that have not yet appeared in print including some new color images.  Like the other books, this one includes some history of the ship and lots of close up detail views.  Similar sister ships are included to show relevant details.  There are shots of Buchanan under construction and new photos of her in Tokyo bay at the Japanese surrender signings aboard the USS Missouri.  The quality of the images is first rate and you can make out the smallest details.  A full color camo drawing has been provided courtesy of Dragon Models LTD.  You will also find many weapons drawings and much more.

This book is a must have for the Benson Gleaves class fan or the scale modeler who has the Dragon Models Ltd 1/350 USS Buchanan Smart kit. If you thought you had seen all the photos of this ship, well guess again.  Especially if you are building a Buchanan in her "early" or "late fit".

This is not a rerun of the Benson Gleave Photo Album, it is an all new book with all the right photos to help you build a better Buchanan model.  This book is soft book format.  This book is an excellent value and a great addition to your Warship reference library.

Thanks goes out to Steve Wiper of classicwarships.com for the review sample!
