Review

We've just received this interesting book on the Junkers Ju 88. Published in Poland by Model Hobby, the title is printed in both English and Polish, similar to the Kagero line. Unlike Kagero, the author (Waldemar Trojca) has some fantastic tools at his displosal.

In addition to some nice descriptions of the various variants of the Ju 88 and some of the more distinctive avionics and subsystems on the aircraft, the author has illustrated the book using a three-dimensional modeling tool that allows for the accurate depiction of any color scheme from any view, unlike traditional four-view drawings. In addition, the book has dozens of five-view line drawings in 1/72 and 1/48 scale. (Five views - top, bottom, left, right, front)

Coverage of this title includes:

  • Ju 88D Versions
  • Ju 88P Versions
  • Ju 88S Versions
  • The Mistel Combination
  • Drawings
  • Electronic Equipment of the Luftwaffe
  • Selected Types of Machine Guns
  • Selected Types of Dropped Armament and JATO
  • Color Profiles

If you're looking for a single title that described each of the variants of the Ju 88, their differences, dimensions, color schemes and equipment fit, this is the one you've been waiting for. I'd love to see this three-dimensional color profiling technique in other publications, which will help eliminate some of the interpretive ambiguities of color demarkation lines between views.

This is easily the best illustrated aircraft monograph I've seen to date! Recommended!

My sincere thanks to AirConnection for this review sample!
